End Trafficking Glorification
We believe law enforcement officers should change the way they report drug busts to the press and thus to the public. Currently, large drug busts are reported in dollar amounts. These reports of huge amounts of money involved with drug trafficking only serves to attract people to the lucrative drug trade.
The Ld 50, or lethal dose of meth is 1/2 gram. Half of a gram of pure meth is enough to kill more than 50% of the general non-addicted population. A seizure of one kilogram of meth is a lethal dose for 2,000 people. Drug seizures should be reported to the press in terms of the number of people that could be killed. Not by its vastly inflated street value.
