It's Time For Me To Give Back To Society
C.A.M. Hello, I hope this letter finds you in good health and spirits. I've recently been reading your articles in the Calhoun Times. I know the problems that meth can cause from my experience with the drug. I'm writing this letter to commend you on your fight, to share my experience, and to offer my future help.
I am in Federal Prison serving a 10 yr. sentence for meth. I was raised in Calhoun and I had my first experience with meth in late 1997. It wasn't long (May 1998) until meth really shook up my life. I was 24 years old sitting in jail waiting for my 10 yr. prison sentence and had a pregnant girlfriend to deal with. It was a very hard pill to swallow. My daughter was born while I was locked up. Soon she will be 8 yrs old. I was sent all the way to Ashland, KY to do my time. That is where I am now.
I've kept very busy during this sentence. I have taken many drug related programs, earned my associates in business management, and earned my personal trainer certification. I now work as an instructor of callisthenic classes in the prisons gym. As you can see, I've tried hard to turn my life around, but there is still a lot more that I want to do. I would like to volunteer my time to C.A.M. when I return to Calhoun. I will be going to the halfway house in Atlanta in October. I will be back in Calhoun in Jan. 07 and I look forward to helping out. I want so much to do something good with my life, since most of it has been spent doing bad deeds. I'm 32 yrs old now and it is time for me to give back to society.
Keep up the good work out there. If you only keep one person away from meth, it is worth the effort. I've lost a lot with meth, but I've seen people lose a lot more than me.
Thank you for your time and help.
